Condition
The canvas is lined. The work appears in good overall condition, ready to hang.
Ultraviolet light reveals some retouchings to the extreme edges and a horizontal line five centimetres from top edge which appears to be related to former cracking from stretcher bar. Some retouching to far left legs of the bench and small area or retouching to the serving boy's cheek and a few other minor retouchings elsewhere.
Held in a Rossetti-style gilt plaster frame, probably the original.
