Catalogue Note

AN EXTREMELY RARE WORK. Riling speculates that “the issue of this book probably did not exceed twenty copies”, and Schwerdt notes that “during thirty years we have seen only one other copy, and that incomplete”.

The plates show various different strategies for shooting grouse, and are highly amusing as well as practical. Crawhall notes that he presents his observations “with the experience of Fifty Seasons mellowed by a Thousand Gallons of Whisky”.
