Catalogue Note
Rare hand-illustrated postcards drawn by a German soldier during the Boxer Rebellion. The author writes to his cousin in Munich about the advance of the troops and various military operations, especially those in Tshang-cheng in March 1901, and illustrating a battle in the mountains near the city. The other card has a drawing of the city walls of Beijing.
