Condition

On bare eye : The painting appears in a good condition. It is on its original canvas, and probably on its original stretcher. We can notice at the back of the canvas two little pieces of fabrics for restorations of little tears. The painting has been recently relined, thoroughly executed about ten years ago. We can notice a restorated tear, slightly oblique of 15 cm long on the right side of the beard. We can notice several stretcher's marks on the painting edges which does not affect the work of art lecture. Under UV lamp: We can notice a uniform green varnish. The above mentionned restoration (old tear) can be notice as well as several points in the backgrounds. We can notice some little restorations in the right eye of the character, around the mouth and on the forehead.
