Condition
As the previous stained glass, this roundel depicting an Angel holding a candlestick was part of the monumental Rose window of the Northern transept of Notre Dame cathedral where it was placed in the lower left corner, and dismanteled by Viollet le Duc in 1862. The roundel is in very good condition overall with some minor wear to the drawing of the angel's face as well as to the lower grisaille clouds. The rectangular blue element to the upper left edge appears to be a later replacement. A few small breaks to the glass at the lower edge in the clouds and to the blue element in the lower right corner. The led lining has been generally reinforced, and the glass shows at the reverse remains of oxydation and traces of brushing to the surface at several places.

Catalogue Note
