Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There are some signs of light frame rubbing and a tiny spot of paint flaking towards the lower left corner of the composition. Ultra-violet light reveals only minimal signs of retouching, notably a number of pinhead-sized spots in the dark area below the bedside table. This painting is in very good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a rococo-style gilt frame.

Catalogue Note
Une autre version comportant des légères variantes et de dimensions plus grandes a été exposée au Salon de la Nationale des Beaux-Arts Paris, 1906. Notre version, probablement réalisée en 1909, diffère à quelques détails près. Manon a ici les yeux entrouverts, un voile rose la couvre délicatement.
