Condition

On its original canvas. Under UV light, a tear appears restorated in the backgrounds in the upper left. Repaints are visible alongside the frame. Small repaints scattered are visible on the surface, especially on the lady's back. Probably in its original frame.

Elève de Jean-Jacques Henner, qui l'influença beaucoup et de Léon Bonnat, Emmanuel Benner exposa au Salon de Paris à partir de 1867. Il s'essaya à tous les genres, portraits, nus, composititions allégoriques et les natures mortes. Les nus féminins sont fréquents dans son oeuvre. La peau lunaire de notre jeune femme couchée sur l'herbe, se détache de l'arrière-plan boisé et capte notre regard grâce à la douceur du modelé.
