Condition

The painting was relined. It is presented in its original frame. Under UV light, a cross-shaped tear (8cm wide and 7cm high) appears in the background on the left, above the cushion. A small repaint appears in the background on the right. Very good general condition.

Catalogue Note

Fille du peintre et graveur Pierre-Louis-Henri Grevedon, Henriette Grevedon (vers 1815-1895) épousa le comédien et dramaturge François-Joseph Regnier de la Brière (1807-1885). Leur fille Henriette (1851-1934) épousa en secondes noces Alexandre Dumas fils, peu après le décès de la première épouse de Dumas, la princesse Narychkine.
