Catalogue Note

The range of undecorated superbly hollowed and formally perfect snuff bottles made from attractive hardstones is enormous and a great many of them from the earlier period would have been made for and at the court. This is an unusual marked example combining agate of striated patterns with dendritic green material, evoking a scene of landscape at sunset.
