Condition

The canvas is unlined. There is a patch to the lower right near the edge of the painting in the grass of the foreground which corresponds to a repaired tear. There is fine craquelure in parts. There are several superficial surface abrasions to the paint surface and a small area of paint loss where the picture appears to have been knocked in the sky to the edge of the trees on the right hand side of the composition. Under UV light there is corresponding retouching to the repair, and further large smudges of retouching to parts of the sky which looks largely to have been applied to cover the fine craquelure. there are other isolated spots elsewhere. Within a gilt composition frame, some losses.
