Catalogue Note
Xu Youquan was active during the Wanli period of the Ming dynasty, and was a student of Shi Dabin, a master Yixing potter. A similar example, but of triangular rather than square section, is illustrated in K.S. Lo, The Stoneware of Yixing from the Ming Period to the Present, Hong Kong, 1986, pl. XXI.
