the deep rounded sides supported on a hollow splayed foot and rising to a lipped rim, painted on the exterior in iron red with two dragons chasing 'flaming pearls', inscribed on the interior with an apocryphal Qianlong seal mark

Gift of Mrs. John Gardner Coolidge (d. 1962) for the John Gardner Coolidge Collection, Boston, 10th April 1947 (accession no. 47.404).
Condition
The rim with three chips, one with an associated crack approx 2 3/8 in., 6 cm long, and another short crack in the glaze visible on the interior. There is minor wear to the iron-red enamel.
