Description

  • Bronze
the body with rounded sides, cast with an archaic band interrupted by raised bosses and flanges, the rim set with opposing upright bail handles, all supported on three tapering legs

Provenance

Collection of Sessei Okazaki, prior to 1908 (on loan to Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 22nd April 1908).
Gift of Mrs. Charles Goddard Weld, 6th January 1916 (accession no. 16.3).

Condition

There is a chip to the edge of one handle, a shallow incision at the base of the other handle, a crack in the mouth rim, malachite encrustation in the interior and minor along some edges. The surface has been polished, coated and an accession number is written and crossed off on the base in red pigment.
