  • HUANGHUALI
the rectangular top with panels set in a mitered frame, over shaped spandrels flanking three drawers with applied incised scrolled arches and circular brass lockplates with bail handles, over a wide bisected skirt and plain apron, the splayed legs of rectangular section

Condition

There is some slight shrinkage of the top boards. Some of the elements have filled tenons indicating the reuse of old timber. Three out of the four legs are comprised of more than one piece of wood; one leg is solid. The coffer is made from different types of woods and huanghuali as is typical of the form.
