of stepped bombé rectangular form, carved of bowenite, the lid with cabochon ruby and rose-cut diamond-set silver-gilt hinges and clasp, unmarked apart from scratched inventory number 49628

Condition
Excellent condition. There is a possible hairline crack or inclusion, visible in the printed catalogue illustration, to the lower section of the body to the right of the hinge. With one or two minute chips along the inside rim.
