Condition
Original canvas. There are minor losses to the canvas in the corners and minor tears to the tacking edges. There are frame abrasions along all edges with associated paint loss. There is a small canvas patch visible on the reverse, in the top right corner as seen from the front. There is a small hole in the canvas in the lower left quadrant with some associated paint loss. There are stretcher bar marks running horizontally across the centre. The canvas is covered in a layer of surface dirt. There is craquelure throughout, which is slightly raised in places. There are losses in places, in particular along the bottom edge. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching to the lower left, as well as a small area of retouching to the building in the upper right which corresponds to the canvas patch on the reverse. There is further retouching along the edges, particularly to the left and top edges as well as some scattered retouching throughout. Held in a gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
