Catalogue Note
Nicholas Vassilieve is best known for his architectural projects in the Northern Art Nouveau style, such as the Cathedral Mosque in St Petersburg and the German theatre in Tallinn. He left Russia after the Revolution and settled in the United States in 1923, where he continued his architectural career. His Constructivist architectural studies and comparable collages inspired by the Jazz Age can be found in several important collections, including The Wolfsonian Collection in Florida, United States.
