Catalogue Note
One of the legendary microphones manufactured by AKG, considered by many to be the greatest microphone for vocal recording. Resident at Britannia Row Studios (for which see next lot) from 1976 to 2015 and used by Pink Floyd, Kylie Minogue, Ella Henderson, Björk, The Saturdays, Ronan Keating, Westlife, JLS, Sinead O'Connor, Plant and Page, Wolfman feat. Pete Doherty and many others.
The C12 was first manufactured by AKG in 1953 and it is thought that around 2500 were made before production ceased in 1963. The present item appears to have been made around 1957/58 and was last serviced by Siegfried Thiersch in 2011 and it is in fine working order.
The microphone is accompanied by the power supply box (AKG N12K, serial number 576), the pattern switch box (AKG U2, serial number 584), lacking one rubber foot, a microphone to power supply box cable, a pattern switch box to xlr cable, a power supply box to pattern switch box cable, a power supply box mains cable, and the original C12 microphone box, lacking one side and worn
