Catalogue Note

'Little Miss Strange' was recorded at the Record Plant in New York between 20 and 22 April 1968. According to Redding’s authorial notes on this page, he wrote both the words and music for this song and also produced this track for the album Electric Ladyland, the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s third and final studio album and the band’s most critically acclaimed and commercially successful record. ‘Little Miss Strange’ was the only track on the album on which Redding is credited as joint lead vocalist with Mitch Mitchell, and for playing acoustic guitar. Redding had escaped from the increasingly chaotic and crowded recording sessions at the Record Plant for the rest of the tracks which Hendrix produced, he recounted that these sessions were so packed with Hendrix’s friends that "It was a party, not a session".
