Catalogue Note

Throughout the 1990s, Jack's musical projects remained as varied as ever. In 1993, he recorded Around the Next Dream with Ginger Baker and Gary Moore as the band BBM. Their album was released in 1994 and included both 'City of Gold' - which Jack had been performing in his solo shows since 1991 - and 'Can't Fool the Blues'.

After BBM disbanded at the end of their 1994 tour, Bruce returned to working on his solo material, releasing Monkjack in 1995 and Shadows in the Air in 2001, which was recorded in New York in late 1999 and early 2000. On both of these albums, Jack worked closely with Kip Hanrahan, who he had first met in 1983 and had sparked Jack's interest in Latin music. Hanrahan co-wrote 'The Food' for Monkjack, although it was Pete Brown who wrote the lyrics for many tracks after Kip was involved in a car accident during the early stages of the album.
