Description

  • bamboo (bambuseae)
of cylindrical section and slightly flaring near the countersunk base, all supported on three short feet, the exterior carved with a continuous scene depicting a sprig of chrysanthemum blossoms of varying sizes stemming from the jagged rockwork, the long stems bearing clusters of leaves, the craggy rockwork detailed with two bamboo shoots and leaves emerging from behind, the landscape interrupted with a poetical inscription dated to the xinsi year, corresponding to 1821, and signed by Ting Song, the patina of a pale reddish-brown colour

Condition

there are minute nicks to the rims, and several minor age cracks, but otherwise good condition
