Oil on canvas with a wax lining. The surface has been flattened by this lining. There is surface dirt and areas of inpainting across the surface, which appears as matte paint. These areas include the upper left corner; the background to the left of the camel's neck at left; a spot in the tree and sky above the Golden Calf; a vertical line in the sky above the man in red; an area to the right of the tree near the man in red; an area in the background above the seated woman at lower right; and along the lower edge. There are also very small, scattered losses.
