Catalogue Note

With an Audemars Piguet presentation box.

Audemars Piguet launched the Royal Oak Offshore Team Alinghi Carbon in 2007 to commemorate the Swiss sailing team Alinghi’s new boat for the 32nd America’s Cup, this special edition was the first wristwatch to feature a case made from forged carbon. Forged carbon was developed for use in aeronautics and is comprised of loose microscopic carbon fibers secured together by a resin, when heated, compressed, then cooled to form a watch case the carbon strands distribute randomly making each case appear to have a similar soft, satin, marbled effect, although actually every one is unique in detail. The series was released in 3 limited edition variations including the all-carbon (1300 examples), rose gold and carbon (600 examples) and platinum and carbon (107 examples). The present watch is so far the rarest among all with the most limited production.
