Condition

This warm-toned, soft-focused, multiple-process print is in generally very good condition. The tones range from velvety chocolate-brown to creamy warm-white. The print is on double-weight paper with a slight surface sheen. It is trimmed to the image, with slightly irregular edges along the upper and right sides. Upon close examination, there is an eraser-head-sized deposit of retouching, likely original, in the upper left quadrant. In raking light, faint graphite transference from the mat window is visible along the lower edge. There is a very thin loss of emulsion (measuring approximately 1/4-inch) along the upper edge. The tips of the lower right and upper left corners are creased, possibly breaking the emulsion. The reverse of the print is heavily soiled, and there are several rust-colored areas. There are Robert Miller Gallery, New York, and Joel Soroka Gallery, Aspen, labels on the reverse of the mat.
