Description

  • Charles Jones
  • 'Parsnip Student'
  • gelatin silver print
ferrotyped, initialed and titled in pencil on the reverse, framed, circa 1900

Condition

This ferrotyped gelatin silver print, on double-weight paper, is in overall very good condition. The edges of the print are very gently curving inward and there are a few areas of tiny emulsion losses along the edges of the print. The corners are very slightly rounded. These issues are primarily in the margins of the image and do not affect the image. As is typical of the ferrotyping process, a slight unevenness of the generally glossy surface and minor pitting are visible in raking light. Upon close examination, a few extremely faint linear impressions and handling creases are also visible. The reverse of the print is lightly soiled in a few places.
