Condition
This print, on semi-glossy paper with an eggshell texture, is in overall very good condition. Visible in raking light are the following: several deposits of the photographer's original retouching, two very faint scratches that do not appear to break the emulsion; one across the sitter's right breast and the other across her elbow. When examined closely, some very faint fading and slight attendant discoloration is visible at the edges of the print.
The reverse of the mount is signed and annotated 'Mexico 1923' and 'Original Print was on Palladiotype.' The notation from the Beaumont and Nancy Newhall Collection, 'N / B + N / 529,' is written in pencil.
Several other notations in an unidentified hand in pencil read: '67 N 23'; '1' (circled); '62%'; 'GEH Copy neg. 13582'; '32' (circled); and 'WMC 579.'
The mount is somewhat soiled, with fingerprints, a few faint liquid deposits, and a small, red smudge on the reverse.
