Description

  • André Kertész
  • Distortion #20
  • gelatin silver print
ferrotyped, 1933 (Of Paris and New York, cat. no. 104)

Condition

This early, slightly warm-toned ferrotyped print, on single-weight paper, is in generally very good condition. As is typical of the ferrotyping process, a slight unevenness of the generally glossy surface and minor pitting are visible in raking light. This is slightly more intensified in the lower right quadrant. There is a small, horizontal scratch in the model's neck which does not appear to break the emulsion. On the reverse, '20. A.' and 'D82' are written in pencil in an unidentified hand. There are small, faint areas of soiling on the reverse of the print. When viewed under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
