- Gelatin silver ferrotype print
ferrotyped, circa 1937; accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Yorick Blumenfeld, the photographer's son
Literature
Lilliput, May 1938, Vol. 2, No. 5, p. 460
Condition
This early ferrotyped print, on single-weight paper with a very glossy surface, is in generally very good condition. As is typical of ferrotyped prints, some pitting, surface scratches, and a slight unevenness of the glossy surface are visible upon close examination. There are a few small handling creases, which do not appear to break the emulsion, near the edges. The print is trimmed to the image, and there is minuscule edge chipping. The corners are bumped and rounded. In the upper right corner along the edge is a paperclip impression.
The reverse of the print is lightly soiled, and there are 2 tiny adhesions of indeterminate nature.
This photograph is accompanied by a photocopy of the print that is signed and annotated by Yorick Blumenfeld as follows: 'This photograph was taken by Erwin Blumenfeld c. 1937 in Paris and was subsequently bought by Lilliput in London. Yorick Blumenfeld - December 2, 2011.'
