a plate from Fiftieth Anniversary Portfolio (Carmel: self-published, 1951), mounted, initialed and dated in pencil on the mount, the portfolio stamp and plate number '9' in pencil on the reverse, 1946, printed in 1951 by Brett Weston, one in an edition of 100 (Conger 1806)
Provenance
The Witkin Gallery, New York, 1970s
Condition
This neutral-toned print, on semi-glossy paper, is in generally excellent condition. The print shows a very slight amount of age-appropriate silvering in the darkest areas of the image.
The mount is a warm, creamy color and shows minor age-darkening and faint soiling. There is very minor wear on the edges and corners and very faint, graphite transfer around the periphery of the print on the mount.
The reverse of the mount shows minor soiling overall, and there is a small, rust-colored deposit, possibly foxing, at the center. '654' is written in pencil on the reverse by an unidentified hand.
