Description

  • Helen Levitt
  • 'NYC' (MASKED CHILDREN BY TREE)
  • gelatin silver print
signed, titled, and dated in pencil on the reverse, circa 1940, printed later (Levitt, pl. 6)

Condition

This slightly warm-toned print is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, a few deposits of original retouching are visible. There is some faint graphite offsetting in the margins, and the margin corners are bumped. On the reverse are two small cloth tape remnants at the upper edge. The reverse is very lightly soiled. When examined in ultra-violet light, this print appears to fluoresce somewhat.
