Condition
This early, large-format photograph is rendered with a remarkable level of precise detail and depth of tonality. It is on warm-toned, eggshell-textured, double-weight paper with a faint surface sheen. It is in generally very good to excellent condition. There is a diagonal 1/2-inch linear crease that does not appear to break the emulsion extending into the image from the upper edge. There are 2 small, sharp creases that may break the emulsion, but which are only visible upon very close examination, in the upper right quadrant. The print is trimmed to the image, and the upper right and lower left corners are creased. The corners are bumped and there is insignificant edge wear. A sliver of unexposed paper is visible along the lower edge of the image. None of the above-mentioned condition issues in any way detracts from this rare oversized print's fine appearance.
The reverse of the print is soiled and age-appropriately darkened. Along the lower edge is a thin, light-rust-colored tideline, which does not appear to affect the front of the print. There is a small dark adhesion of indeterminate nature near the left edge.
