Description
- Helmut Newton
- 'TWO MODELS IN MY APARTMENT, PARIS'
- gelatin silver print
signed, titled, dated, and annotated in pencil on the reverse, 1975 (White Women, unpaginated)
Provenance
Gift to the present owner, 1984
Condition
This early print is in generally good condition. In raking light, the following are visible: a 3-inch concentrated area of curvilinear scratches in the left portion of the image that may intermittently break the emulsion; scattered superficial surface scratches; a pen-point sized impression in the upper left portion of the image that does not appear to break the emulsion; and some creases that do not break the emulsion near the edges of the image.
The print is trimmed to the image, and the edges and corners are bumped and worn with attendant losses of emulsion.
The reverse of the print is backed with dry-mounting tissue, which is lifting at the corners. Also on the reverse, '2121' is annotated in pencil.
