Catalogue Note
Commandée par Vogue Italia et shooté en deux journées à la célèbre Coupole, à Paris, cette image s’inspire d’une beauté éphémère qu’Aldridge voyait souvent dans cette brasserie. Passant des journées entières assise seule à la même table, cette femme semble attendre que quelque chose se passe. Elle pourrait s’évader en attrapant le premier regard mais se rassied perpétuellement. Dans l’imaginaire du photographe, son univers se réduit à ce fameuse brasserie où elle attend impatiemment qu’une âme lui échange quelques mots.
Le drame fatal de cette scène et les émotions éprouvées par Aldridge sont traduits dans cette image, et de telles dramatisations glamoureuses d’évènements réels sont caractéristiques de son œuvre. En effet, l’intensité psychologique de l’intrigue et les diverses interprétations qui nous sont offertes ne font que sublimer la beauté évidente du modèle, ses vêtements et la mise en scène.
