Description
- Relief with the Resurrection
- partially gilt alabaster, in a gilt wood and velvet frame
- Netherlandish, Malines, late 16th century
Condition
Overall the condition of the alabaster is good with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is particular wear to the surface at the high points and there are a few small losses, including to the face of the soldier at the far right of the relief. There is wear to the gilding in several areas. There is a restored break at the top right hand corner of the relief. The break runs through the putto's hands, which may be restored. There is veining to the alabaster consistent with the material, including a vein running from Christ's proper left knee towards the shield.
There is wear to the gilding on the frame and some minor damage to the velvet at the joints and edges.
