Description

  • Three reliefs with the Virgin and Child accompanied by Angels, the Last Supper, and the Entombment
  • partially gilt alabaster, in partially gilt wood frames

The Virgin and Child monogrammed: IT (Isaac Tissenaken); the Last Supper monogrammed: VE (Lievin van Eeghem); the Entombment with a handwritten expertise to the reverse

Condition

Overall the condition of the alabasters is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is wear to the gilding throughout. There is particular wear to the surface at the high points and notably to the faces of the Entombment relief. There is veining to the alabaster consistent with the material; some veins are slightly open. There are two restored breaks running horizontally and vertically across the Last Supper relief. There is also a restored break running horizontally across the Entombment relief. There is some wear to the gilding and paint on the frames, and there are a few chips and abrasions to the edges and corners. Each frame has metal fittings on the reverse.
