Description

  • Dancing Boy
  • bronze, on a yellow marble base
  • North Italian, 16th century

Provenance

Dr. Victor Bloch, Vienna;
and thence by descent to Lucie Hauser, London;
and thence by family descent

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age, including some rubbing to the patina at the high points. There are a few minor nicks and a larger one to the proper left elbow. There is a small area to the back of the head that is rough due to a casting flaw. The figure was fastened to the base with glue. The boy should be mounted standing on one leg rather than two and would therefore benefit from being readjusted on the base. There are a few minor chips to the lower edge of the marble base.
