Condition

Knop: Overall the condition of the metal is good with wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age. The silvering has worn off in several areas, notably the high points and the bottom. There are a few minor fissures consistent with the casting process. There is a layer of lead around the hole at the top. There is some tarnishing to the silver on the medallions. There are nicks and scratches to the metal throughout. There is some greening in the crevices around the medallions and around the bottom opening. The modern wood stand is in very good condition with minor dirt and wear. Buckle: Overall the brass is in good condition with wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age and handling. Christ's body, including the face and hands, have worn unrecognisable. There are small nicks and scratches throughout. There is some metal wire to the mounts at the back. Pax: Overall the condition of the pax is good with wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age and handling. There is particular wear to the surface at the high points, including the faces. There are a few remnants of gilding. There is minor greening around the mounts at the back. There is a small lacuna to the left of the Virgin's head. Boat: Overall the condition of the incense boat is good with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is some warping to the upper and bottom edge. There are a few areas of minor greening, including to around the hinge at the top, around the edge on the underside and to the inside of the lid.
