Condition
Overall the condition of the alabaster is good with wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is wear to the surface at the high points. There are losses to the gilding throughout. There are several chips and abrasions, particularly at the high points, including the child's proper right leg, the middle King's sleeve, and the kneeling King's drapery. There are fresher abrasions to the alabaster at the left and right edges where the stone has rubbed against the metal hooks on the mount. There is a possibly restored break to the middle King's cloak. There are a few small losses, including to the bottom edge and to the kneeling King's proper left hand. There are several scratches, notably to the underside and the back.
There is wear to the velvet fabric on the wood mount; joints are visible and slightly fringed. There is an old label numbered: 252 on the reverse of the mount.
