  • Goats in a barn
  • signed and dated centre left: J.F.Herring. S/ 1852
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The canvas has an old but stable relining. The canvas is dirty and the varnish a little discoloured, but generally the paint surface is in very good condition. There are some minor retouchings to old tacking losses along the top edge, but otherwise repairs consist only of minor spot retouchings. The canvas bears marks of having once been framed as a roundel. The picture would benefit from cleaning. Sold with a modern, reproduction, parcel gilt plaster frame with minor chips.
