Description
- School of Utrecht, 17th century
- Susanna and the Elders
- indistinctly signed lower left (?)
- oil on panel
Condition
The panel is uncradled. A vertical crack, with retouching, shows in the paint running the height of the panel, in the centre left. A horizontal crack runs from the centre of the left margin until it meets the aforementioned vertical crack. Otherwise the paint surface is secure. The surface has dirtied somewhat but would clean well. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a cloudy varnish and very few very small scattered retouchings to the background. The figures and antique freize are free of retouchings.
The work is offered in a gilt molded frame with some losses.
