Condition

The Mystic marriage of Saint Catherine: The panel is stable and flat, not cradled. The reverse is covered with an old plaster coating. The paint surface is dirty. Underdrawing is visible in places. Inspection under Ultraviolet light reveals small areas of retouching to the faces of Virgin and child, to the Virgin's hand, to the sleeve of Saint Catherine and to the cushion on which the child stands. Otherwise only tiny scattered retouchings. Christ Carrying the Cross: The panel is cradled but flar. The paint surface is secure. An area of retouching below the chin of Christ is visible. Inspection under UV light reveals an uneven varnish and scattered retouchings throughout. The face is largely free of retouching other than an area around the left eye. Two vertical repaired cracks are visible. The first runs the whole length of the panel at the left of Christ's face. The second is in the landscape and measures approximately 10 cm. The work is offered in a wood frame, somewhat affected by woodworm.
