Condition
Hinged to mount at upper margin and laid down on thick card. Light brown stains located in lower half of the sheet and very faint scattered foxing in the upper section. Black chalk still strong.
Sold in carved and gilded frame.

This lively, rapidly executed drawing can be dated circa 1788-89, on the basis of the figures' elegant costumes with their large, plumed hats or capelines.
