Condition

The canvas has a firm lining and a clear varnish. The paint surface bears a degree of wear throughout and there are scattered retouchings visible to the naked eye in raking light. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the presence of scattered retouchings throughout, those in the face and hair are carefully executed. The Queen's dress remains largely untouched. Offered in a heavy elaborate carved gilt and painted black frame in only a few losses.
