Catalogue Note
The composition of the present sheet is loosely derived from Tintoretto's famous painting of the same subject in the Scuola di San Rocco, Venice. The graphic style is reminiscent of both Jacopo Tintoreretto and Palma il Giovane. The format of the drawing indicates that it must have been preparatory for an overdoor.
