Condition

Hinged to mount at the upper margin. Brown staining along the upper margin due to previous adhesive tape to verso. Some creases in the sheet, perhaps due to when sheet was fully laid down. A few tiny holes located lower right corner, barely visible, only really seen when holding sheet up to the light. Overall in fairly good condition - chalk and wash still strong.

Catalogue Note

The ship in the centre of the composition appears to be the royal yacht that was presented by the Dutch to the English King Charles II on the occasion of his restoration to the throne in 1660.  He named her the Mary.
