Condition

Overall the condition of the bust is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some particular dirt to the marble on the proper left side of the mouth and at the bottom of the chin. Glue marks are visible in several areas, including the forehead and proper right eyebrow, the proper right temple, the back of the hair, and the proper left tip of the nose. There are some minor losses to the marble, including to a curl of hair on the proper right side and a curl on the proper left side at the back. There is some wear to the gilding on the bronze, particularly at the high points. The condition of the marble base is good with some wear and minor chips to the edges. There is a larger loss to the edge of the bottom tier on the left hand side. There are residues of an old sticker at the front of the bottom of the base. For all sales which take place on or after 1 February 2015, please note that the rate of buyer's premium for each lot (charged as a percentage of the hammer price achieved for that lot) has been revised and shall be calculated at the thresholds set out below: Buyer's premium is 25% of the hammer price up to and including £100,000; Buyer's premium is 20% of the hammer price on any amount in excess of £100, 000 up to and including £1,800,000; Buyer's premium is 12% of the hammer price on any amount in excess of £1,800,000. As stated above, the revised thresholds are effective as of 1 February 2015.
