Catalogue Note

Monsieur Audoy was the Director of the Public Treasury in Paris. According to Dumont’s fee-book, he painted the sitter’s wife and daughter in the same year as the present work and then, in the fifth year of the revolution (1796/7), Audoy's grand-daughter too. Monsieur Audoy died in Paris at 16 rue de Petit in January 1807.
