Catalogue Note
The Arab was a 184-ton brig based out of Bideford (Devon), taking immigrants to Canada and the United States. In two voyages in 1843, it took 55 and 35 persons to Quebec. A few years after this cup, though, the owners were fined £12-10 for neglecting the requisite issue of provisions to passengers.
