Catalogue Note

One of a set of six goblets made for  English-born actress Julia Marlowe, who married the Shakespearean actor Edward H. Sothern. The goblets were made with three different patterns chased just below the rim. Three are privately owned; one is at the Smithsonian, another is at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the last is at the Denver Art Museum.
