Condition

Generally, the work appears to be in good and original condition. The board appears sound. The edges of the board are very slightly scuffed in places, with one or two tiny spots of cracking to the brown pigment at the left vertical edge. The work is presented in the Artist's own painted and varnished wooden frame, with painted backing. There are some very light surface cracks apparent to the painted backing, in line with the grain. There is a minor scuff to the backing in the upper left corner, and there are some very light specks of discolouration apparent to the white pigment towards the lower edge of the backing. There is one small nick to the frame at the left side of the upper horizontal edge, and several extremely small nicks along the lower horizontal edge. The surface is slightly dirty and may benefit from a light clean. Ultraviolet light reveals four very small areas of retouching to the brown pigment at the left vertical edge, with one or two further tiny flecks to the brown pigment at the centre of the work, all of which have been sensitively executed.
